LUCKY SHAG BAR - New Deck A.V. install

Perth's Lucky Shag Bar recently completed extensive new works to double the size of their outdoor deck on the Swan River. This work required considerable changes to increase the coverage and capacity of the sound system and the installation of subtle LED lighting to highlight the venues outstanding location. PAV, having designed and installed the original A.V. fit out were asked to create a suitable AV environment and install in time for the Balmy Army to give it a thorough work out during the recent Ashes Test (the one we won, remember!)

Weather resistant Turbosound TCS081 loudspeakers were mounted on light poles to provide a primary sound source with even coverage to the deck area. These were supplemented by some EV ZX1 loudspeakers, remaining from the original installation, to provide fill to areas near the bar.

With the increased size of the deck, bar management wanted to have the facility to use DJ’s and live entertainment on the deck. The immediate requirement was for increased bass on the deck area without having valuable floor space occupied by large subs. PAV’s unique solution was to create subs out of the wine barrels used as tables throughout the deck. These “wine barrel subs” provide low frequency reinforcement in the immediate location providing the depth and warmth needed for the style of music selected by the venue.

The entire sound system is powered by Lab Gruppen amplification delivering high quality performance with suitable headroom for all occasions.

To enhance the atmosphere further, LED lighting was installed beneath the deck umbrellas, under the “wine barrel subs” and in several other areas to provide subtle lighting where required. The lighting was programmed with suitable colour changes to highlight the venues location and all concerned were delighted with the end result.
